Preview

The section page content can be displayed in two different ways:

Desk mode

This is the default mode, used for editing section page content.

Preview mode

In this mode, the section page content is presented as it will appear in a browser on a certain class of device, either now or at some specified time. You cannot edit the section page content in preview mode.

To switch between the display modes, use the Desk and Preview tabs at the bottom of the section page content area.

When you switch to preview mode, a set of preview controls are displayed on the right of the editor window. For a description of how to use these controls, see Previewing Content.

You can undock the Preview tab into a separate window by selecting View > Undock preview browser from the main Content Studio menu. You can redock it again at any time by selecting the dock button in the top right corner of the window, selecting View > Dock preview browser from the menu or by simply closing the window.

Getting the most out of Preview mode

If you're working with layout rather than just entering content, then it's really a good idea to undock the Preview tab and place it somewhere in view alongside your main Content Studio window, perhaps on a separate screen if you have one. You will then have a constant preview of whatever you are working on displayed in the undocked window. Every time you save a change, open a new section page or content item or switch between editor tabs, the preview window is updated accordingly. As long as you have sufficient screen space, doing this makes working on layout much more efficient.
