Problem Solving

Most likely you will encounter a few problems with your test migration. The general procedure for dealing with any problems you find is:

  1. Locate the problem.

  2. Make whatever changes you think are necessary to fix it.

  3. Delete the new publication.

  4. Repeat the test migration.

This sequence should be repeated until the results of the test migration are satisfactory.

You won't want to repeat the whole test migration for every single problem you find. You may find that you can provoke a number of problems by migrating a much smaller data sample, for example, or all your problems may be import-related, so you can investigate them by repeatedly importing a single file.

Both the export and import processes report their progress and/or failures by writing messages to the Content Engine log, so this is a valuable source of diagnostic information. For instructions on how to configure Content Engine 5.2.7.2 log output, see Logging.
